About Horizon Radio

Welcome to Barnsley’s Horizon Radio!

In the coming months Ofcom will invite applications for the 3rd phase of community radio stations in the North of England. When that happens Horizon Radio will be applying for a licence in Barnsley.

Unlike commercial stations, community radio has to provide a social benefit to the audience it serves. Also local people have to be involved with running the station and producing the programmes it broadcasts.

Barnsley’s Horizon Radio is working with strategic partners to address a number of areas social problems. If you’d like to be a volunteer and want to have a positive impact on this great community please get in touch via our contact page.

As Barnsley’s Horizon Radio gets bigger our programmes will develop and deliver a radio service our town deserves.
